As Vice-President of GEO Council, Sheril was responsible for leading the CCA in executing various projects with a focus on environmental awareness both within the campus as well as to the community. Together with her team, she organised various eco activities ranging from upcycling workshops, clean-ups and gardening. Some of the activities included Acts of Green (Earth Day 2017), where participants were given the opportunity to experience gardening and performing clean ups along Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Mission Clean Up 2.0, where she led NYP students to clean up along Ang Mo Kio Central, collecting 17.5kg of litter and 5kg of recyclables, Clean & Green Singapore Carnival 2017, where she led the NYP team in conducting workshops for the residents of Boon Keng to spread awareness and information on recycling, and Up Market 2017, where she volunteered to guide residents in making upcycled products.

In her leadership capacity at the NYP GEO Council, Sheril also engages the surrounding secondary schools on various community outreach programmes. Together with her committee, she communicated with the staff from Anderson Secondary School to collect plastic bottles, paper cartons and newspapers to teach the students how to create coin pouches, stationery cases and photo frames.

Keenly passionate about recycling and waste reduction, Sheril worked closely with partner organisations such as F&N to raise awareness of the benefits of recycling by placing a manual crusher machine in her campus.

For her outstanding leadership and contributions to the environment, Sheril Ameilda Alis Binte Ramlan is awarded the 2018 HSBC/NYAA Youth Environmental Award.
